Searching credit reports are possibly the most accurate way to gain information and data about any individual. Laws for credit reporting and collection vary amoung countries. May countries have organized repository of credit records. Most credit reports not only contain financial data, but contain assets and real and otherwise, address history, contact information, relatives, aliases, maiden name, places of employent, employers, self employed infromation, salaries, neighborhood information.Access to this information is restricted to the owner of the data or for reasons allowed by law.

Credit reports and credi agencies in United States of America are governed by FCRA, which protects consumer's rights to privacy and has strict regulation as to who and how the information may be accessed. If you are looking for information on others you are better off getting a background check than to investigate through credit bureaus. Even if you have someone's socialy security (SSN) number you still need their permission to get a copy of the credit report, but you can get a background check by SSN which might be more accurate at least you can be sure the profile is the person you're investigating. However if you are investigating your own information you should check your information in your credit report for accuracy or otherwise.
